Telling your bestie is an explosion of happy tears, chaotic squealing, and the instant start to planning a lifetime of "auntie" duties.
It’s the moment that unlocks a beautiful new chapter, knowing you have a co-pilot who will love your little one just as fiercely as you do. Because this is her baby, too. She is baby’s second mom and the person I will send them to when mama # 1 needs a break. ;-p
I love my best friend. We have been through decades of life together. I’ve been in a relationship longer with her than any other, including my husband. She does not want her own babies but was ecstatic for me to birth her new little bestie. And I am so beyond grateful and excited that my baby will get to have her in their life. I told her before anyone else and excitedly planned with her how I would tell the hubby.
Planning Your Reveal
The Direct Approach: Simply tell them you have some exciting news. Share somewhere you’re both comfortable and can share the moment freely.
The “Auntie” Reveal: Surprise them with a small, memorable gift, such as an “Auntie” onsie, mug, keychain, candle, or by placing your ultrasound photo inside a greeting card.
The Wine Reveal: One of my best friend’s and I got pregnant a week apart and wanted to tell our friends together. I relabeled a wine bottle with “Drink This Because WE Can’t!…Babies coming March 2026” II put the bottle in a chiller, set out wine glasses and asked our friend to open it.
The Sweet Treat: Bake or buy their favorite dessert, and leave a note on the box that says “Auntie [Friend’s Name]” or “I’m pregnant!”
Virtual Reveal: If they live out of town, send them a package to open on FaceTime. Film their reaction so you can both look back on the memory later.
