Shots for all of Baby’s FIRSTS

Becoming new parents is exciting. But it can also be daunting, exhausting, messy and hard on the sleep deprived couple. Being able to add a little fun to the harder and happier moments with a ‘cheers!’ and a shot can make those moments a little more special and memorable. It can help that first time you get shat on a little less horrible and a little more laughable. And watching those first steps that lead to the bittersweet emotions of both pride in their growth and the heartbreak of how fast they are growing up, a little more bearable. These shot tags are so easy to make and will make your gift a hit.

What You'll Need

  • Printer
  • White Cardstock
  • Hole punch
  • ¼-⅝” Ribbon (preferably baby theme related)
  • 3”+ Ribbon (for the big bow)
  • 2 Baby Diaper Pins
  • Ten mini airplane shots of various types
  • Basket

Shot Tag Steps

  • Click the image to open the link to a copy of the Google Slide tags
  • You can edit and personalize them to your liking
    • OR, if you like them as they are:
  • Click the ‘Download Now’ button to access the PDF version
  • Print the file on a piece of cardstock
  • Cut the tags out and fold right above the top set of decorative lines
  • Buy ten mini airplane shots and add the labels.
    • I try to buy shots that are relevant to the tags if I can. For example:
      • 99 Bananas: First time trying solids
      • Gold Tequila: First time getting peed on
      • Fireball: First time getting puked on (because…after too many fireball shots in my college days, fireball always makes me want to puke now, haha)
      • Southern Comfort: To add some comfort after the first time you get pooped on
  • I like to finish them off by getting some cute baby related, ¼ -⅝” ribbon and tying a bow above each tag to help hold the tags on, like the ribbons below.
    • To create the perfect bow, you can use a fork. Here is a tutorial
    • OR you can buy premade bows to tie on like the ones linked here. It’s quicker and you’ll have enough to add to other gift items or keep for the next baby shower!

Personalizing It

In addition to the shots, I add other things from the couple’s registry and personalized onesies in a personalized basket. I buy a soft style basket that I iron on Cricuted vinyl with ‘Baby (Last Name) and Est. (year) that the couple can continue to use for baby after the shower for things like  baby laundry, burp clothes, a diaper caddy, etc. I then arrange everything nicely in the basket, add a giant bow attached with baby diaper pins, add one of my personalized DIY cards (find those linked here) and give it to the couple just like that. It’s so beautiful and fun to display as is that there is no need for wrapping.
