Before preparing the drink, rim the cocktail glass with sugar. Using half a lemon wedge, coat the rim of a cocktail glass. Dip into a plate of granulated sugar and set aside.

Add the vodka, triple sec, lemon juice and simple syrup to an ice-filled shaker and shake until well-chilled.

Strain into the prepared glass.

Use a peeler to remove a slice of lemon rind, twist, and add as a garnish.
