Shot-cuterie Party

Ditch the deli meat and grab the shot glasses—host a shot-cuterie party! It is the ultimate way to sip, snack, and socialize with a gorgeous board of themed mini drinks and perfect bite-sized pairings.

A Shot-cuterie party will upgrade your next girls’ night or weekend get together. It replaces heavy, high-maintenance meals with a beautiful, high-energy layout of tiny drinks and matching snacks.

 Why It Works
  • Total Crowd Pleaser: Guests graze at their own pace, mixing and matching flavors.
  • Built-in Entertainment: Building the perfect drink and snack combo serves as an immediate conversation starter.
  • Stress-Free Hosting: Every drink is batched ahead of time, leaving you free to hang out.
  • Stunning Aesthetics: Mini glassware, colored rims, and tiny food holders make the table completely photo-ready with the cutest pairings.
  • Involve the guests: This is an easy party to put together on your own or a fun way to get your guests involved by asking each of them to bring a tray of snack & shot pairings.

Planning Your Party & Pairings

Hosting a shot-cuterie party requires balancing a beautiful display board with easy, pre-batched shot and snack pairings.

1. Plan the Pairings
Plan at least five distinct pairings so guests can graze. Match the flavor of the shot to a complementary, bite-sized finger foods like the pairings listed above. Here are a few more ideas using recipes you can find in my Exes party post and on my Food & Cocktails page:

2. Prep the Shot Glasses and Vessels
Use unique glassware and individual containers to make the board look organized and stunning:
    • Vessels: Mix clear plastic &/or glass shot glasses, mini martini glasses, and shot cups.
    • Snack holders: Place snacks in mini paper cones, individual plastic cups, or on bamboo toothpicks.
    • Rims: Pre-rim glasses with salt, sugar, or sprinkles before placing them on the board.

3. Batch the Drinks Ahead of Time
Do not mix drinks to order during the party. Shake or stir large batches of your shot recipes in labeled pitchers or cocktail shakers before guests arrive, keeping them chilled in the refrigerator until serving time.

4. Assemble the Boards
Use large wooden cutting boards or slate platters as your canvas:
  • Anchors: Place the shot glasses down first in clusters or rows.
  • Fillers: Nestled the snack cups directly next to their matching shot counterparts.
  • Garnishes: Fill any empty spaces on the board with loose berries, citrus wheels, or fresh herbs.
5. Make good memories and take lots of pictures!
